The Monster Carnival (Carnival Party Quest - CPQ for short) is the main source of experience points for most Maplers level 30-50. Although originally intended by Wizet to be a strategy Party Quest (PQ), today it is mostly composed of TW (Trade Wins) and FW (Free Wins). CPQ is accessed by talking to Spiegelmann in most major towns, or through the dimensional Mirror. Prizes are also claimed by trading Maple Coins by talking with Spiegelmann.

How it works is there are two teams, Blue and Red. Each team has monsters only they can kill and appear semi see-through to the other team. There are 6 rooms, with 1 and 2 being the same, 3 and 4 the same, and 5 and 6 the same. The two teams don't have any 'mutual' monsters with the exception of the robos you start with in rooms 5 and 6. After killing monsters, you gain Carnival Points (CP) for yourself and your team. The monsters spawn after awhile. Rooms 1-4 is for 2-4 members per team, while 5-6 is for 3-6 members per team. The number of members on each team must be equal and the average level must not have a difference greater than 10 levels.

Items are unusable in the CPQ but potions are dropped quite commonly by all monsters. Some of the potions are very powerful potions such as whole party power elixir, and cube of darkness, which casues darkness to the other team. The catch is though, that the instant you pick the item up, it is used up. It does not appear in your inventory, however some people have been able to hack some of the items out of CPQ. One example that I saw is someone had a cube of darkness and dropped it outside but that's illegal so don't do it!!

The CP you gain for yourself is usable only by you to summon monsters, summon protectors for monsters, or cast spells on opponents. The CP of your team is to determine who wins the round.

Here's the exp after you finish a PQ:
0-49CP = Rank D (Win 7.5k exp loss 1k exp) 50-249 = Rank C (win 21.5k exp loss 7k exp) 250-499 = Rank B (win 25.5k exp loss 8.5k exp) 500cp+ (win 30k exp loss 10k exp)

Here are the summons that can be used through using up CP:

Sometimes it still does happen that people actually compete in CPQ and it depends greatly on team members' abilities, but also on strategy. Always listen to your party leader unless there is someone more knowledgeable than he/she is and you agree mutually to listen to that person. Summon things based on level, damage, and class of the opposing team's members.

TW (trade wins) is the most common. Basically, you agree with people on it (generally with friends to prevent getting scammed. For the records I do not believe you can report these scams) and find a free channel with the room you want open. Then, go into it and one team wins first an the other team wins next. People will usually say fff or fff100. fff means Fight for first, which means whoever wins first wins first and other team wins next. fff100 means first to 100 cp.If someone says no summons, be courteous and don't summon. It's proper etiqutte.

The most common scenario for TW is room 3/4 with max trojans and speed. Other common ones are 3/4 max rombots with or without speed, or 5/6 max rombots with or without speed. It goes for FW below too.

FW (Free wins) is what happens when you have a friend who is willing to give you free wins or you buy free wins from someone. If a friend is giving you free wins, make sure he has two computers or a friend or something who is helping him give you free wins. If they are only one 1 person giving you the wins, then they are most likely recruiting some random person who is going to be sucked in to believing it's tw when really it's fw for you. This is bad and don't do it.

Another free win is when you buy it from someone for usually around 500k each from the world I'm from. This will usually include the other person recruiting someone and scamming them, like I mentioned above and is not good but many rich Maplers who are bored of CPQ just do it. I do not support this but I have done this before.

That's all you need to know to get started! Remember, the #1 rule is to have fun! =)
