Welcome to MMOBLOG. Here's some basic stuff you need to know about MMO/MMORPGs. First of all these game are played on the network. MMO stand for Massive Multipalyer Online. They're multiplayer because there's more than one player. Online because it run on a server. Massive because there's usually thousands of people playing. Anyway, basic MMO information:
In MMOs your objective is to gain experience (EXP), so you can level up (LVL)
There are generally 2 ways to do this:
- - Grinding
- - Questing
Grinding: Kill monsters, usually refers to killing a lot of monsters
Questing: Complete tasks given to you
At first grinding is usually all you do, and all you really need to do to gain levels. But as you level, leveling up get harder and harder. And soon you'll get to a point where you can only gain good EXP by doing quests.
TERMS
There's a lot of terms used in MMOs:
- First you've got all your online terms that you see all over the internet (eg. lol, ftw, brb, ty, thx, etc...)
- Then there's the rank terms (eg. noob, pro, max, etc...)
- Then you have short for all the classes and types (eg. dit, roge, war, mage, archer, etc...)
- And a lot more you'll have to learn...
